Sunday update from the World Seniors

After eight sessions of play in the World Senior Championships, there is a two-way tie at the top of women’s Group A, featuring defending champions Canada and United States. Scotland are on their own at the top of Group B. All of these teams have a two wins, zero losses record.

Canada had a hard-fought 7-4 win over Sweden on Sunday afternoon, while, in an earlier session, United States beat Lithuania by 9-1.

Behind these two in Group A, third-placed Sweden also have two wins, but one loss (against Canada), having played one game more than the table-toppers.

New Zealand are on a 1-1 record in fourth place. England, Hong Kong, Japan and Lithuania have yet to win.

In the women’s Group B, Scotland’s second win came against Latvia, by 7-4.

Behind the Scottish team, Australia, Ireland, Latvia and Switzerland share second place. Both Czech Republic and Finland have yet to record victories.

In men’s play, Hungary top Group A, on three wins and no losses, with Japan, Canada and Czech Republic chasing them.

Group B sees Korea and Sweden on top, on two wins and no losses, ahead of Germany, Latvia, New Zealand and Switzerland in joint third place, each on one win and one loss.

Group C is currently topped by United States, who have a two wins, zero losses record.

Behind them are Australia and Ireland, having each played one game more, and share a won two, lost one record.
