To encourage the growth of curling around the globe the World Curling Federation employs a team of Competition and Development Officers and produces resources to aid development activity. The following resources are available.
What is curling?
For those new to the sport here is a useful guide introducing the fundamental concepts of curling.
Discover Curling details the in-and-outs of the sport for novice, able bodied and wheelchair, curlers across the globe. This resource is supplemented with short instructional videos.
Dedicated curling facilities
An essential means to growing curling around the world is by introducing new dedicated curling facilities. The World Curling Federation has developed and published a guide to aid its Member Associations in building modern dedicated curling facilities.
The Development Assistance Programme offers Member Associations a financial grant to aid in the development of curling in their country.
The Facility Support Programmes includes both the New Facility Loan Programme and the Environment/Energy Efficiency Loans scheme for Member Associations.
World Curling Academy
The World Curling Academy is an online learning platform providing customised training aimed at World Curling’s Member Associations. It is being delivered in partnership with the World Academy of Sport and will be available soon.
Camps and courses
Throughout a season the Competition and Development Officers deliver a variety of camps and courses for curlers of all ages and those interested in the administrative and technical aspects of the sport, including ice making, coaching and officiating.
Olympic Celebration Tour
The Olympic Celebration Tour, supported by the Foundation for Global Sports Development, invites Member Associations to host an Olympic medallist and qualified curling instructor, who will deliver introductory clinics in curling clubs and schools in their country.
