Changes to the World Curling Team Ranking System for the 2026–2027 season
Following the changes to the curling calendar for the 2026–2027 season, the World Curling Team Ranking System (WCTRS) Points Group has implemented a number of changes to the system.
These changes update the Strength of Field Multiplier (SFM) and change the Importance Factor of several events.
The changes also introduce the WCTRS Competition Series for Men’s and Women’s competitions, which is separated into three different event tiers based around the SFM ratings of events. The three tiers are:

The Champion Series features events that have a set SFM and those that receive and Importance Factor increase. The events in this series include World Championships, European Championships, World Qualifiers, National Championships and Grand Slam of Curling events.

The Elite Series features tour events that carry a SFM value between 4.0 and 8.0.
This Series is defined by high-level competition, internationally diverse fields, and often includes larger event purses.

The Challenger Series features tour events that carry a SFM value of 3.9 and below.
This Series is defined by intermediate level competition, mainly local or regional fields, and standard event purses.
