Australia to play Sweden for ACE & Company World Mixed Doubles 2026 title
The line-ups for the medal games at the ACE & Company World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship 2026 are now set, following Friday’s qualification and semi-final action.
Australia will play Sweden for gold medals and the title while, before that, Canada will play Italy for bronze.
Australia and Canada had both topped their round robin Groups to go straight to the semi-finals, but before that, Sweden faced Scotland and Italy played Japan in qualification games.
Sweden beat the Scots by 7-5 in their qualifier to face Canada, while Italy had an extra end 7-6 win over Japan to go on to face Australia.
Semi-final: Australia vs Italy
In the fifth end of the semi-final between defending champions Italy and Australia, the Italians held a 4-1 lead when Australia’s Tahli Gill played a hit, to score three points and level the game at 4-4.

Then, as the teams played the eighth with the Australians ahead by 6-5, Italy’s Stefania Constantini attempted to score two points with a gentle tap-back. But she delivered slightly too light and had to settle for just one point to level the game at 6-6 and force an extra end.
In that extra end, Constantini could not force Australia to play their last stone, as the Australians scored the single point that gave them a 7-6 win and a place in their first-ever final.

Afterwards, Tahli Gill said, “This feels amazing — honestly like a dream come true. We’ve been working hard for this for literally eight years so we’re going to go out there and have fun and keep doing what we’re doing. I just want to soak up the moment.”
Meanwhile her partner Dean Hewitt said, “Early on we weren’t being good with the communication, so we weren’t on the same page on a couple of things. Then we started to find our feet and got a couple of breaks — we got a bit fortunate.”
Looking to the final, Tahli Gill said, “We need to prepare like we’ve prepared every other day. A good de-brief — there’s lots of things we need to work on. We know Sweden are a good team, so we’ll have to give it our all.”

Semi-final: Canada vs Sweden
The other semi-final between Canada and Sweden was also a tight affair, and, by the fifth end, the score was tied at 2-2. In this end, Canada’s Kadriana Lott tried to score one with a draw shot, but she was wide and gave up a game-changing steal of three, putting Sweden into a 5-2 lead.

In the seventh, with the score at 5-4, Sweden’s Therese Westman tried to come in off a winger, looking for a score of two. But she just missed, and had to settle for one point and a 6-4 lead.
Canada then conceded in the eighth end when they had no final shot to complete the 6-4 win that puts Sweden into the gold medal final against Australia.

Afterwards, Sweden’s Westman said, “It’s amazing that we’re in the final — that was great play from both of us. I knew that if I made my last stone in the eighth, we would probably win the game.”
Her partner, Robin Ahlberg said, “Both teams made some really, really good shots and it was really close in pretty much every end.”
He admitted, “We were pretty lucky in the fourth and the fifth.”

Before Saturday afternoon’s gold medal final, Canada and Italy will play for bronze.
Relegation games
Relegation games were also played on Friday to determine which teams would be demoted to the B-Division. After placing last in their respective Groups following the round robin, Denmark and United States were first to be relegated.
Group A’s New Zealand beat Group B’s Finland 8-1 to retain their spot in the top level, while Group B’s Hungary defeated Group B’s France 9-1 to stay up.
