Le Gruyère AOP European Curling Championships return to Finland

After the success of the 2024 edition, Kisakallio Sports Institute will once again host the Le Gruyère AOP European Curling Championships 2025 A-Division next season. Meanwhile, the European Curling Championships 2025 B-Division will take place at Pajulahti Sports Centre in Lahti, Finland.

Both competitions will run from 22-29 November 2025.

Located on the outskirts of Lohja, Finland, the Kisakallio has proven to be a hub for curling excellence and, as a result, this will be the first time that a European Curling Championship will be held at the same venue two years in a row.

The Kisakallio Sports Institute is no stranger to hosting World Curling events. In the 2023-2024 season alone, three competitions were held at the venue — the World Junior-B Championships, the World Wheelchair-B Championship and the World Junior Championships.

The B-Division will be held in Lahti, Finland, just under two hours away from Kisakallio, at Pajulahti Sports Centre. Located on the shores of Lake Iso-Kukkanen, Pajulahti is Finland’s only Olympic and Paralympic training centre. This will be the first time the sports centre has hosted a World Curling competition.

World Curling Head of Competitions, Eeva Röthlisberger, said: “Returning to the Kisakallio Sports Institute for the second consecutive year is an exciting opportunity to continue building on the success of last year’s Le Gruyère AOP European-A Curling Championships.

“Their world-class facilities and commitment to sporting excellence makes Kisakallio the perfect venue to continue showcasing the best of European curling.

“We are excited to see the European Curling Championship 2025 B-Division take place at Pajulahti. With their exceptional facilities and extensive experience in hosting sporting events, we have full confidence that they will deliver an outstanding competition.”

Event Director at Sport Institute of Three Campuses, Laura Kittelä, said: “It’s great that the Le Gruyère AOP European Curling Championships are returning to Finland.

“For the first time in history, we get to host both the A-Division and B-Division European Championships simultaneously at our campuses in Kisakallio and Pajulahti. It’s also fantastic to see Finland playing in the home championships.

“A big thank you to the World Curling for this opportunity.”

Lauri Ikävalko, a representative of the Sports Institute of Three Campuses and the Finnish Curling Association, said: “I am very pleased that we will be able to continue our cooperation with World Curling.

“It’s fantastic to have the European Championships again with the same organiser. The work done by Kisakallio to develop the competitions together with the Finnish Curling Association has been significant for the sport, both internationally and in Finland.”
