New World Curling Athlete Commission elected
The 2024 election period for the World Curling Athlete Commission closed on Monday 27 May.
According to the Commission’s Terms of Reference, eight positions were available for election, while United States’ Tyler George (male athlete representative) and Norway’s Rune Lorentsen (male wheelchair curling representative) continue their term until the 2026 elections.
Based on the results, the following athletes join Tyler George and Rune Lorentsen on the Athlete Commission:
Analena Jentsch (GER) – female athlete representative
Eve Muirhead (SCO) – female athlete representative
Benoit Schwarz-van Berkel (SUI) – male athlete representative
Kristin Moen Skaslien (NOR) – female mixed doubles representative
Harri Lill (EST) – male mixed doubles representative
Collinda Joseph (CAN) – female wheelchair curling representative
Chelsea Carey (CAN) – female World Curling Team Rankings representative
Matt Dunstone (CAN) – male World Curling Team Rankings representative
To be eligible to run for the Athlete Commission, an athlete must have represented their Member Association in a World “A” Championship or Olympic/Paralympic Games in the prior five years in any of the four Olympic and Paralympic disciplines (women’s, men’s, mixed doubles and wheelchair).
For the World Curling Team Rankings positions, an athlete must be on a team that is ranked within the top 25 of the rankings at the end of the season preceding the elections.
The voting database includes those who are eligible to run plus any athlete who has represented their Member Association at the Pan Continental Championships (A or B-Division), the European Championships (A, B or C-Division), world wheelchair championships (A or B-Division), the world mixed doubles championship, the World Mixed Doubles Qualification Event and anyone ranked inside the top 25 at the end of the season on the World Curling Team Ranking System for men’s, women’s and mixed doubles.
Tyler George was elected as Chair and Analena Jentsch as Vice-Chair of the Commission at their meeting on Monday June 3 for two-year terms.
