Moose Jaw, Canada to host BKT Tires World Men’s Curling Championship 2025

The BKT Tires World Men’s Curling Championship 2025 will be held in the Moose Jaw Events Centre in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Canada from 29 March until 6 April 2025.

Moose Jaw is the fourth largest city of Saskatchewan and it is home to over 30,000 people.

While it will be the first time Moose Jaw has hosted a world men’s championship, it is no stranger to World Curling competitions. The city played host to the Pioneer Life World Women’s Championship in 1983 and the Uniroyal World Junior Curling Championships in 1979.

The city also hosted numerous Canadian championships, including the 2023 Canadian Wheelchair Curling Championship, along with the 2020 and 2015 Scotties Tournament of Hearts.

In 2025, not only world championship medals will be on the line, but also qualifying points for the Winter Olympics 2026. By the end of the event, seven countries will have qualified for the men’s competition in Milano-Cortina 2026, joining hosts, Italy. The final two Olympic berths will be decided at the Olympic Qualification Event, scheduled for December 2025.

World Curling Head of Competitions Eeva Roethlisberger said, “We’re pleased that we get to return to Canada for the BKT Tires World Men’s Curling Championship 2025.

“Curling Canada has proven a number of times that they are excellent partners in hosting World Curling events and I’m certain that they, along with the members of the local organising committee, will do their very best to put on an outstanding event.”

It will be 27th time Canada hosts the world men’s championship. The most recent one was in 2023 in Ottawa, Ontario and saw Scotland’s Team Mouat beat Canada’s Team Gushue in the final.

Curling Canada Chief Executive Officer Nolan Thiessen said, “We’re thrilled and thankful that World Curling has shown the faith and confidence in Curling Canada and the City of Moose Jaw to bring the 2025 BKT Tires World Men’s Curling Championship to Moose Jaw next year.

“Moose Jaw has proven time and time again that it is a superb host for major curling events, and we know they’ll be ready to welcome the world in 2025.”

Moose Jaw Mayor Clive Tolley said, “We’re #NotoriouslyExcited to welcome the 2025 World Men’s Curling Championship to our world-class Moose Jaw Events Centre. On behalf of City Council, we thank World Curling and Curling Canada for choosing Moose Jaw to host this prestigious event, and we invite curling fans from around the world to attend and discover why we are Canada’s Most Notorious City.”

The Moose Jaw Events Centre opened in August 2011, featuring a hockey arena that, in addition to its seating bowl, has 21 private suites and 132 club seats. Attached to the same building is the eight-sheet Moose Jaw Curling Centre.

Moose Jaw Events Centre General Manager Shaunna Fritzler said, “We know there’s a lot of work to be done between know and the first rock being thrown, but it’s the kind of work that brings a community together. From the past events we’ve hosted here, we know how exciting these next 13 months will be leading to the event, and we can’t wait to welcome the world to Moose Jaw!”

Visit Moose Jaw President, David Wood said, “This announcement is the latest step in building Moose Jaw’s reputation, not just for holding sporting events, but for making them a success.”

“We are very happy to have the confidence of Curling Canada and World Curling to host the 2025 BKT Tires World Men’s Curling Championship. We can’t wait to welcome some of the best curlers in the world to our fine city.”

The BKT World Men’s Curling Championship 2025 will mark the second year of an agreement with the global tire manufacturer to be the title sponsor of world championship events staged in Canada.
