Edmonton, Canada to host the Booster Juice World Junior Mixed Doubles Curling Championship for the third time

The Booster Juice World Junior Mixed Doubles Curling Championship, presented by Volvo Cars Edmonton, will return to the Saville Community Sports Centre in Edmonton, Canada for its third year. The championship will be held from 3–9 May 2027.

The Saville Community Sports Centre is a 350,000 square foot multi-sport recreation facility, managed and operated by the University of Alberta, that played host to the initial two editions of the World Junior Mixed Doubles Curling Championship in 2024 and 2025.

“The importance of this event to our junior curlers can’t be overstated,” said World Curling Head of Competitions, Eeva Röthlisberger. “The previous two events were huge successes and we’re thrilled to be returning to the Edmonton to work with a fantastic local organising committee once again.”

“We are extremely proud to host the Booster Juice World Junior Mixed Doubles Championship for the third consecutive year”, said organising committee chair, Kevin Martin, of Inside Curling. “I can’t thank our sponsors, volunteers, and the staff at the Saville Community Sports Centre enough for continuing to support this outstanding event. It simply wouldn’t be possible without them.”

“On behalf of the University of Alberta, which owns and operates the Saville Community Sports Centre, we are excited to welcome the world’s best young mixed doubles curling teams back to our world-class facility”, said Associate Director of Campus and Community Recreation, Greg Lembke. “Between the efforts of our curling supervisor, Laura Walker, and our head ice technician, Cody Hall, I am confident that the event will run smoothly, both on and off the ice.”

“We have a long history of hosting successful curling events, including the first two World Junior Mixed Doubles Championships in 2024 and 2025”, said organizing committee co-chair, Rob Krepps, the longtime head curling coach at the University of Alberta. “We look forward to applying everything we’ve learned over the years to provide the best possible experience to curlers, coaches, and spectators alike.”

The World Junior Mixed Doubles Curling Championship 2027 is an open-entry event featuring junior mixed doubles teams from World Curling’s Member Associations. The format of the championship will be confirmed once the number of entries are confirmed. This event is aimed at increasing junior participation across nations and growing the number of athletes in future adult-level championships.
