Olympic champion Vicky Wright joins Hot Shots Camp
Olympic Winter Games 2022 champion Vicky Wright of Scotland has joined teammate Eve Muirhead as part of the instructor team at the World Curling Adult Camp in Tallinn, Estonia from December 6-8, 2024.
“I am extremely excited to announce that we have signed two reigning Olympic champions – Eve Muirhead and Vicky Wright – as part of our world-class instructor team in Tallinn”, said David Gravelle, Camp Director of the Hot Shots Curling Camps. “Along with World Curling, our goal is to foster and grow the sport of curling at the grassroots level. It’s fantastic these elite players want to give back to the sport they love.“
“I am really looking forward to being an instructor at the World Curling Adult Camp in Estonia,” said Wright. “Since retiring I am in a privileged position to put my free time back into the sport and help it grow. I really enjoy coaching and teaching curling because this sport has given me so much enjoyment over the years. Aside from playing the sport and being part of a team that is trying to win, it is about the friendships and memories you make along the way.”
Vicky retired from competitive curling in 2022 as the reigning Olympic and European champion to pursue her career in nursing and build a family with her husband, Greg Drummond, the 2014 Olympic Silver Medalist for Team Great Britain. Vicky is an ICU nurse at the Forth Valley Royal Hospital in Larbert, near her home in Stirling, Scotland.
The Hot Shots Curling Camp has linked over 3800 recreational curlers with elite players and international coaches and instructors for the past 29 years. The camp curriculum covers all aspects of the sport from balance, to delivery, release, and rock rotation, to classroom sessions focused on team communication, team dynamics, and strategy.
Vicky is excited to become a member of the Hot Shots Curling Camp team of instructors, which includes several World, Olympic, Canadian, and USA Champions as well as elite instructors and coaches.
“The Hot Shot Curling Camp program sounds fantastic,” said Wright. “The curriculum delivers a vast range of skills from technical to tactical to improve and enhance your enjoyment of the game.”
“It (the camp) is also a social weekend where you get the chance to meet and make friends with so many amazing people. I am very excited to be a part of the instructor team in Estonia and cannot wait to meet and work with all the campers joining us.”
The World Curling Adult Camp will be held during Christmas Market season in Tallinn, the capital of Estonia from December 6-8, 2024. The camp is limited to 48 registrants.
