Wheelchair curling will be represented at the Milano Cortina 2026 Paralympic Winter Games with two disciplines – the wheelchair team and the wheelchair mixed doubles event.
After a successful application and review process, followed by a consultation with the Milano Cortina 2026 Organising Committee, the International Paralympic Committee Governing Board has approved the wheelchair curling medal events’ programme for the Milano Cortina 2026 Paralympic Winter Games.
The team event made its Paralympic debut in 2006 in Torino, while the mixed doubles discipline will be included in the Paralympic programme for the first time in 2026.
World Curling Federation Head of Competitions, Eeva Roethlisberger said, “We’re extremely happy that our newest discipline, wheelchair mixed doubles will be part of the Paralympic programme in 2026.
“In the last two seasons we had two successful World Wheelchair Mixed Doubles Curling Championships. At these events, alongside traditional curling nations, relatively new Member Associations finished on the podium. It shows the discipline’s strong potential, and we are very excited that it will be showcased on the Paralympic stage.”
The Milano Cortina 2026 Paralympic Winter Games will be held from 6 to 15 March 2026. The wheelchair curling competitions will take place in the Cortina Olympic Stadium in Cortina D’Ampezzo.
