The European Curling Championships 2023 C-Division is about to get underway in Dumfries, Scotland. The event will begin on Friday (28 April) and run until Thursday (4 May).

Ten women’s and eight men’s teams will compete for medals and also for promotion to the European Curling Championships 2023 B-Division.

The women’s field consist of France, Ireland, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Serbia, Slovakia, Spain, Ukraine and Wales.

The participating men’s teams are: Andorra, Croatia, Georgia, Greece, Liechtenstein, Poland, Slovenia and Ukraine.

The event will be played at the Dumfries Ice Bowl, which is a multi-sport facility, with a six-sheet curling rink and dedicated ice hockey and skating rink.

It hosted the World Mixed Doubles and World Senior Championships in 2014 and the World Mixed Doubles Qualification Event in 2022.

Round-robin play will run from Friday (28 April) until Wednesday (3 May).

On Thursday morning (4 May) at 9.00 semi-finals will take place. In these semi-finals the first-placed teams will play the fourth-placed teams, while the second-placed teams will meet the third-placed teams in both genders.

The winners will play in the gold medal games and the gold-medal winners will qualify their Member Association for the European Curling Championships 2023 B-Division. The losers will play in the bronze medal games. All medal games will be played on Thursday afternoon at 14.30.

Details about qualification for the ECC2023 B-Division

Following a recent decision of the World Curling Federation Board, a host nation who have not already qualified, will be guaranteed a position in the B-Division at future European Curling Championships.

As the host for the Le Gruyère AOP European Curling Championships 2023 A- and B-Division is still to be confirmed, at this time only one team from each gender can be guaranteed promotion to the B-Division.

Should the host for the Le Gruyère AOP European Curling Championships 2023 A- and B-Division already be in either of these divisions, then a second team will also be promoted.
