Czech Republic, Denmark and Germany qualify for World Wheelchair Curling Championship 2023

Czech Republic won the World Wheelchair-B Curling Championship 2022 after beating Denmark on Thursday afternoon’s gold medal game by 7-3 in the Kisakallio Sports Institute in Lohja, Finland.

Czech Republic earned their spot in the final by defeating Japan by 6-3 in Wednesday’s semi-final. Denmark had an 8-3 victory over Germany on their way to the gold medal game.

Czech Republic took an early lead in the final, and after scoring two points in the first end, stole three in the second.

After a blanked third end, Denmark got on the scoreboard with one point in the fourth end. After the break Denmark stole single points in the fifth and sixth ends.

In the seventh, Czech Republic scored two more points to take a four-point lead, at 7-3. At this point, Denmark conceded the game, making 7-3 the final result.

Germany won the bronze medals after winning over Japan by 5-4 in the bronze medal game on Thursday morning.

All three medal winning teams qualified for the World Wheelchair Curling Championship 2023, being held in March 2023 in Richmond, Canada.

Gold medal game result: Denmark 3-7 Czech Republic

Bronze medal game result: Germany 5-4 Japan

The gold medal winning Czech team: skip Dana Selnekovicova, third Martin Tluk, second Milan Bartunek and lead Radek Musilek, supported by alternate Jana Brincilova and their coach Sune Frederiksen.

The silver medal winning Danish team: skip Kenneth Oerbaek; third Michaell Floyd Jensen, second Niels Peter Nielsen and lead Sussie Nielsen, supported by their coach Kasper Wiksten.

The bronze medal winning German team: skip Burkhard Moeller, third Christiane Putzich, second Christoph Gemmer, lead Heike Melchior, supported by their coach Helmar Erlewein.
