Youth Olympic Games Qualification

Curling at the Dolomiti Valtellina 2028 Winter Youth Olympic Games will comprise a mixed doubles competition featuring 16 National Olympic Committees.

Italy qualify for the competition automatically as host. If the Host Country declines its Host Country Place, the quota will be reallocated to the next best ranked National Olympic Committee, regardless of the continent, based on the Youth Olympic Games Ranking.

13 mixed double team quotas will be allocated based on the Ranking List, following the distribution of quotas per qualifying zone below:

  • Three highest ranked National Olympic Committees from the Americas
  • Four highest ranked National Olympic Committees from the combined area of Asia, Oceania and Africa
  • Six highest ranked National Olympic Committees from Europe including the Host Country. If the Host Country does not appear within the six highest ranked National Olympic Committeess from Europe, the five highest ranked from Europe will earn a quota and the sixth quota will be allocated to the Host Country, regardless of their rank

The remaining three quota places will be allocated to the highest ranked National Olympic Committees who have not yet qualified on the Ranking List regardless of qualifying zone.

Should there be any remaining quota places available following this allocation of places, World Curling will allocate the remaining places to the next highest ranking National Olympic Committees not yet qualified on the Ranking List regardless of qualifying zone.

National Federation Representing Great Britain: The three National Federations from Great Britain — England, Scotland and Wales — are all eligible to participate in World Curling championships. However, by an agreement between the Curling Federations of Scotland, England and Wales, only Scotland will be allocated qualifying points for Great Britain.
