Recognised Facility Certification
The World Curling Recognised Facility is the entry-level tier of the programme. It is designed for local and community-based facilities that aim to introduce newcomers to the sport and foster initial engagement with curling. This certification level focuses on promoting accessibility and inclusivity, ensuring that facilities provide safe, welcoming, and supportive environments where participants of all ages and skill levels can experience the sport.
The purpose of the World Curling Recognised Facility is to lower the barriers to participation by providing easy access to curling, encouraging community involvement, and offering basic infrastructure that meets essential operational standards. These venues are vital in supporting the growth of curling at the grassroots level, offering introductory programmes, recreational leagues, and opportunities for social engagement.

- Submission of an application
- Commitment to promoting curling at the local level through introductory programmes or recreational activities
Certification Process Overview
- Download and complete the Application Form available below
- Email completed form to [email protected]
- Receive and complete the World Curling Recognised Facility Application Form including any support documents (facility details, safety protocols, operational data, etc)
- Review by World Curling GFCP Assessor and final decision by World Curling on certification
- World Curling to inform of the certification decision and share the World Curling Recognised Facility Pack accordingly
Eligibility
Facilities that operate at a basic level and cater to the recreational curling community.
Timeframe for Certification
Typically 2-4 months from Expression of Interest submission to certification decision.
Recertification Reminder
Certification is valid for four years, after which facilities must submit updated data and undergo reassessment for recertification.
