Purpose

This top-tier certification is reserved for world-class facilities capable of hosting international curling competitions. Excellence Centres must meet the highest standards in sustainability, infrastructure, and operational excellence, contributing to global curling growth.

Criteria

International-standard ice quality, athlete support spaces, and spectator facilities.
Advanced sustainability targets, including energy efficiency and carbon footprint reduction.
Operational excellence in terms of staffing, event management, and community integration.
Ability to support high-performance athlete development and host World Curling-sanctioned international events.

Outcomes

Excellence Centres are positioned as global leaders in curling infrastructure, gaining access to exclusive sponsorship opportunities and hosting rights for World Curling Championships and other high-profile events.

Certification Process Overview

Download and complete the Expression of Interest Form available below
Email completed form to [email protected]
Receive the Applicant Package
Complete and submit via email the Application Form and other required documents (business plans, sustainability reports, event-hosting protocols, etc.)
On-site inspection by World Curling GFCP Assessor (if necessary)
Review by World Curling GFCP Assessor and final decision by World Curling on certification
World Curling to inform of the certification decision and share the Training Centre Certification Pack accordingly

Facilities capable of hosting international events and supporting high-performance athletes

Timeframe for Certification

Typically 6-9 months, factoring in the required on-site inspections and high standards for certification

Recertification Reminder

Certification lasts four years, with annual data submissions and a reassessment for recertification

Costs Involved

Excellence Centre certification involves higher fees due to the complexity of assessment and inspection

Excellence Centres receive ongoing support from World Curling, including access to sponsorship opportunities, event-hosting support, and high-level consulting for continuous improvement.
