Lohja, Finland to host World Mixed Doubles and World Wheelchair-B Curling Championships in the 2026–2027 season

The Kisakallio Campus in Lohja, Finland — the Olympic and Paralympic Training Center of the Sports Institute of Three Campuses — has been awarded the hosting of the World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship 2027 and the World Wheelchair-B Curling Championship 2026.

With this announcement, Lohja will host three events in the 2026–2027 season as they will also welcome the World Junior-B Curling Championships 2026 following a previous multi-year agreement.

The World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship 2027 will take place from 4–10 January 2027 and will separate from the World Senior Curling Championships — which will remain in the same spot at the end of the season — following the competition calendar restructure earlier this year.

The World Wheelchair-B Curling Championship 2026 will be held from 22–30 November 2026.

The World Junior-B Curling Championships 2026 will run from 8–21 December 2026 with the junior men’s competition taking place first, then followed by the junior women’s competition.

Eeva Röthlisberger, World Curling’s Head of Competitions said, “The Kisakallio Campus have been fantastic partners to World Curling over the years and we are thrilled to be able to bring one of our premiere world championships to Lohja. The local organisers have tremendous experience of running our events and I have every confidence in their ability to do an excellent job once again.”

Local Organising Committee President, Lauri Ikavalko said, “We at the Sports Institute of Three Campuses are extremely pleased and happy that our cooperation with World Curling continues to grow stronger.

“The three major championships taking place next season are an excellent example of the partnership and effective collaboration we have built together over the years. Being able to organise these events, with the same operational setup, also represents a significant sustainability benefit from an environmental perspective.

“The World Mixed Doubles Championships in January will be the very first Mixed Doubles world-level event hosted at the Kisakallio Campus. We are truly excited and greatly looking forward to welcoming the world’s best Mixed Doubles athletes to Lohja and Kisakallio. It is wonderful to have the opportunity to see the top players compete here in Finland.”

Jenni Korhonen, Local Organising Committee Event Coordinator added, “We are proud to continue developing Kisakallio Campus and Lohja as an international curling destination together with World Curling. Hosting three championships in one season is a fantastic opportunity for our campus, our staff, and the local community.

“We warmly welcome all athletes, coaches, officials, and support teams to Lohja for the 2026–2027 season.”
