Sweden win wheelchair mixed team bronze at Paralympic Winter Games
Sweden and Republic of Korea played for bronze medals in the wheelchair mixed team competition at Milano Cortina 2026 on Friday evening.
Sweden won silver medals at the 2022 Paralympic Winter Games, whereas Team Korea came second at the 2025 world championship.
Following a first blanked end, Sweden scored one after a perfect draw by Viljo Petersson Dahl. In the third, Yang Hui Tae needed to execute a perfect angle raise to score two. He did just that for a 2-1 lead.

In the fourth, Petersson Dahl threw two draws into the house and Sweden scored two to retake the lead, 3-2.
After a blanked fifth end, Yang Hui Tae couldn’t execute his hit-and-stick attempt perfectly and Sweden stole two for 5-2.
Team Korea played an excellent seventh end and were sitting three on the four-foot before Petersson Dahl’s last shot. He threw an exceptional double take-out and Yang Hui Tae needed a precise draw to score two. He executed the task at hand and Team Korea narrowed the gap to a single point.
In the eighth end, Sweden were leading by one, having hammer. Yang Hui Tae’s last draw came up short, and Sweden didn’t need to throw their last stone to become Paralympic bronze medallists.

After the game, a delighted Kristina Ulander said, “I’m so happy right now. We came back stronger, had a great game and I’m so happy because we won the bronze medal. Viljo played very well this week and he is amazing.
“We are a very close team, we work together and we help each other if someone has a tough day in a game, so we are always there for each other. They call me the mood manager. After the semi-final we were very disappointed and we went back home and rested, recharged and came back stronger. Because we didn’t want to go home empty-handed.”
Viljo Petersson Dahl shared his feelings, saying, “Fantastic, it’s another medal in the collection. I’m really proud of our effort this week and our performance this last day, both against China and now against Korea. Fantastic feeling! I’m so proud of the team!”
“The feeling is stronger because we had a rollercoaster tournament I think. We were more up and down than at the last Paralympics in Beijing, but the feeling that we can end up third and play this good, it’s fantastic. I didn’t think that a couple of games ago. Our team is based on communication and we talk a lot about feelings and how to reset and what we need and what to change. We’ve been working really-really hard outside the ice and that showed today.”
About his highly important double-take out in the seventh, he said, “It’s a critial stone, you have to make it, you can’t miss, because probably we lose the game. Not to overthink it, just do it like I always do. Aim, brush and speed, that’s the only thing. I made it. I didn’t get lucky. It’s mostly skill I think.”

Team Korea 4-7 Sweden
The bronze medallist Swedish team are skip Viljo Petersson Dahl, third Ronny Persson, second Sabina Johansson and lead Kristina Ulander, supported by alternate Marcus Holm and coach Peter Narup.
Wheelchair mixed team curling action concludes on Saturday at 15:05 (CET) with the final between Team China and Canada.
