Austria to forfeit remaining games at Olympic Qualification Event due to illness
Following an ongoing illness within the team, Team Austria have confirmed that they will be unable to compete and are forfeiting their remaining three games at the Olympic Qualification Event 2025.
Austrian pair, Verna Pfluegler and Mathias Genner faced Czechia, losing 15-2, in their opening game on Saturday (13 December). The team then forfeited their next three games due to illness with the intention of returning to the ice. However, that has not been possible and the team have now officially forfeited their remaining games.
There are no alternate players in mixed doubles curling. If either player from a mixed doubles team is unable to compete, the team are forced to forfeit their games until both players are available.
Austria’s remaining opponents will automatically receive wins, while Austria will receive losses and the Did Not Finish (DNF) designation in the official standings.
