In the eighth end, Scotland’s Morrison produced a nose-hit but could only score one point, reducing the Swedish lead to 5-4.

Sweden moved further ahead in the ninth end when Hasselborg drew her last stone into position to score two points and take a 7-4 lead. The Scots then conceded defeat in the tenth when they ran out of stones, handing Sweden their third European crown.

Afterwards, Sweden’s Anna Hasselborg said, “This means a lot to be on the top of the podium again. The way we’re playing right now, it’s nice to win like that and get that medal, as proof of what we’re doing right now. It shows that we can play at this level in the most important games.”

“It’s been such a great week, and I’m really pleased.”

Meanwhile a reflective Scottish skip, Sophie Jackson, said, “It’s really great to go home with a medal.

“It’s been a real up and down week for us, so we were pleased to make it to the final. We would have loved to go that one step further, but we’re really proud of what we’ve done here.”

“We always talk about resilience in this team, we’ve done it many times, coming back from a bad start in a championship. We’ll take a lot of learnings from this week.”
