Former World Champion, Colleen Jones, passes away at 65
World Curling is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Canada’s two-time Women’s World Champion, Colleen Jones, at age 65, after a long battle with cancer.
Colleen was a six-time Canadian women’s champion, and first competed at a World Championship in 1982, with her rink finishing in fifth place.
It would be 17 years before her return to the international stage with another fifth-placed finish in 1999.
Then, in 2001, the first of four consecutive World Championship appearances for Canada, Colleen won her first world title, defeating Sweden’s Annette Norberg in Lausanne, Switzerland.
She followed that, with a fourth-place finish in 2002. Then took home the silver medal in 2003.
In 2004, she would win her second World Championship title, defeating Norway’s Dordi Nordby in Gävli, Sweden.

Colleen returned to international competition in 2017, where her team went a perfect 9-0 in Lethbridge, Canada, to win the World Senior Curling Championships women’s title.
Off the ice, she was known for her broadcast work with the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, where she also worked as a sideline reporter at the 2014, 2018 and 2022 Olympic Winter Games.
World Curling offer our deepest condolences to Colleen’s family and friends.
