Scotland women and Canada men claim gold at World Seniors 2025

Honours were shared between Canada and Scotland in the finals of the World Senior Curling Championships 2025.

Scotland’s women were 10-2 winners over Canada in their gold medal final, while the Canadian men beat Scotland by 10-7 in theirs.

In the bronze games, Ireland’s women beat Japan by 6-4 — a first medal at this level for Ireland’s women — while United States men were 6-5 winners over Finland.

Women’s competition

Led by former world champion skip Jackie Lockhart, the Scottish women dominated their final. They held a 6-1 lead at the break, then added four more points in the fifth for a 10-1 scoreline. Canada then scored one point in the sixth to concede and hand the Scots their 10-2 win and the World Seniors title.

In the women’s bronze game, a score of two in the sixth end for a 4-3 lead, and then a steal of two points in the seventh, sealed the historic Irish victory.

The Scottish gold medallists are: skip Jackie Lockhart, third Mairi Milne, second Claire Milne, lead Katie Loudon

The Canadian silver medallists are: skip Atina Ford Johnston, third Shannon Morris, second Sheri Pickering, lead Cori Morris, supported by alternate Lesley McEwan

The Irish bronze medallists are: skip Dale Sinclair, third Bernie Gillett, second Nina Clancy, lead Louise Kerr, supported by coach Colin Sinclair

Men’s competition

The men’s gold medal game was a tight affair, with the lead changing hands four times in the game. Eventually Canada had a steal of one in the eighth end, to give skip Randy Bryden and his team a 10-7 win.

In the men’s bronze game, the teams swapped scores of two in the first two ends, and after this. It was then tight all the way, with two single point steals by the Americans, including one in the eighth end. United States eventually emerged as 6-5 winners.

The Canadian gold medallists are: skip Randy Bryden, third Troy Robinson, second Russ Bryden, lead Chris Semenchuck, supported by alternate Glen Hill

The Scottish silver medallists are: skip Tom Brewster, third Frazer Hare, second Robbie Stevenson, lead Don Frame

The American bronze medallists are: skip Mike Farbelow, third Rich Ruohonen, second Bill Stopera, lead Darren Lehto, supported by coach Pete Annis
