Canada and Sweden keep pace at LGT World Women’s
With each of them winning their evening games on Wednesday, defending champions Canada and Sweden are leading the chasing pack behind undefeated leaders Switzerland and second-placed Korea in the hunt for play-off places.
Canada had lost their morning game 7-11 to Korea but bounced back with a win over Norway. The game against Norway was tied at 6-6 as the teams played the tenth end. In that end, Canada skip Rachel Homan played a hit to score two points and win the game 8-6.

Sweden Secure Two Wins
Meanwhile, Sweden had a two-win day. They defeated Lithuania 8-2 in their morning game and then returned to the ice in the evening to edge Italy 7-6.
Against Italy, the Swedes led 5-4 as the teams played the eighth end. Their skip Anna Hasselborg then played a finely-judged tap-up to score two points and extend her team’s lead to 7-4. Sweden then went on to secure the 7-6 win.
Afterwards, Hasselborg reflected on the game, saying, “This was our third time on this sheet, and our two losses have been on this sheet, so I was very dialled in to figure it out. I got a good read of the ice, and I got confidence from that.”
More broadly, she added, “It’s a long week, and we’ve got lots of tough opponents left, but we’re happy with the way we’re playing.”
Switzerland Stay Unbeaten
At the top of the rankings, Switzerland continued their undefeated streak, beating Norway 8-4 in their only game. Switzerland led 5-3 in the eighth end when Norway’s fourth player, Kristin Skaslien, played a draw against four to reduce the Swiss lead to 5-4. Despite this, Switzerland went on to win 8-4, maintaining their place at the top of the table.

Korea Hold Strong in Second
Korea stayed in second place with an 11-7 win over Canada in the morning and a 7-3 victory over Denmark in the evening.
Against Denmark, the score was tied at 3-3 as the teams played the ninth end. In that end, Korea skip Gim Eunji executed a double take-out to score four points and give her team a commanding 7-3 lead. Denmark then conceded.
Gim spoke after this game, saying, “After our morning game, we wanted to still try to improve our performance. We’re thinking about the play-offs now. We feel confident, and we want to stay confident.”
Behind the top four, Scotland sits in fifth place with five wins and four losses. They had a strong day, securing a 7-6 win over the United States, followed by a 6-5 victory over Japan.

The game against United States went to an extra end. With the score tied at 6-6, Scotland’s fourth player Rebecca Morrison made a draw to the four-foot to score one and win the game 7-6.
Scotland skip Sophie Jackson said, “Rebecca’s been absolutely nailing the four-foot this week, and when it came to an extra end, we just said ‘give her the four-foot,’ and she did it. “We feel we’re in a good spot. We’re just going to keep going. We know we’re going to have a lot more tight games, so we’re prepared to take all the games all the way.”
Behind these teams in the crucial top six places, Denmark sit at four wins and four losses after suffering two defeats on Wednesday – 2-8 to Japan and 3-7 to Korea.
Norway have four wins and five losses. Japan, United States, and Italy each have three wins, while Türkiye and Lithuania remain winless.
