World Curling extend Belarus and Russia event exclusion until end of 2024–2025 season
Following the latest World Curling Board Meeting in December 2024, the decision was taken to extend the World Curling event exclusion of Belarus and Russia until the end of the 2024–2025 season.
The exclusion was extended in July 2024, covering the remainder of the 2024 calendar year. This has now been further extended due to continuing concerns that their involvement would damage the integrity of the events.
The two Member Associations have been excluded from upcoming events using Rule C1(b), which states:
“The Board of the WCF may remove a team or Member Association from any WCF event if in the sole opinion of the Board their presence at the event would damage the event or put the safety of the participants or the good order of the event at risk.”
The Board are continuing to monitor Member Association and athlete concerns and are monitoring the actions of other sporting bodies relating to the conflict and potential return to competition and reserve the right to revisit their decision if required.
