Canada first to secure world play-off spot
With a 9-5 victory over Türkiye on Wednesday evening, Canada, who are unbeaten after eight games, became the first team to qualify for the play-offs.
The Canadians needed two precise run-backs from their skip Rachel Homan in the tenth end to secure the win.
Italy staying consistent
Behind the Canadians, Italy consolidated second place on the rankings, with a 10-9 win over Korea and an 8-6 defeat of Denmark.
The Italians were pushed all the way in each of these games, with Korea stunning them with a score of four in the seventh end of their game.
Italy skip Stefania Constantini said, “that was a really tough game, we had a strong fight. After the break the Koreans really put us in a difficult situation. We tried to manage it but in the seventh they scored four and then the game was tight again. It was difficult but we tried to stay focussed, and I think we did it.”

Switzerland drop two in a row
In their only game of the day, Switzerland, having lost their 42-game unbeaten winning run at the hands of Canada on Tuesday, went down to a surprise second successive loss, by 5-6 to Scotland. Despite this loss, the Swiss remain in joint third place on the table.
They are joined there by Korea, who recovered from their earlier loss to Italy with a 7-5 win over Sweden in the evening game.

Afterwards, Korea skip Gim Eunji said, “we knew Sweden would be a tough opponent, but we just dug in and kept going. I thought we were a little bit sloppy in our morning game, but in that evening game I think we showed ourselves and how we can perform. We have a few games left and we’ll be trying to get as far up as possible.”
Earlier, Sweden had beaten United States by 10-5, showing their bad start earlier in the week to be a thing of the past. Their recovery means that they now sit in sixth place on the table with Denmark, who beat New Zealand by 7-1 sitting above them in fifth place.
Following their 10-4 win over Estonia – Japan – with three wins, sit in joint seventh place on the table alongside Norway and United States. Scotland are tenth overall, and Turkiye are eleventh. Estonia and New Zealand share twelfth place at the foot of the table, each on just one win so far.
