Brazil claim first-ever Youth Olympic win
In their only game of the day, Brazil claimed a historic Youth Olympic victory, against Germany 6-4.
Brazilian third Julia Gentile was delighted after her team’s win, “I’m feeling so happy, I have no words to describe how happy we are as a team! Brazilian curling is growing a lot and we’re showing it here, so I’m really, really happy and I am so happy of what we have become
“Both teams played really well,” she said. “It was so fun playing against Germany. It was a tough game because it was tied until the seventh end both teams played very well and it was really tough for us to win.

“Our main goal is to win more games but if not, we want to win as many ends as we can and show the world the curling that Brazil can play!”
Elsewhere in the group, Canada, Denmark and Great Britain earned wins. Now, Denmark, Great Britain and Italy are tied for top-spot in Group B with three wins and one loss each.
Group A ‘probably the greatest shot of my career’
Sweden ended their day on a high while keeping their play-off hopes alive after a dramatic win against previously undefeated China. Down 2-4 in the final end, Sweden’s skip Vilmer Nygren took his only chance to win by making an angle raise double takeout for three points, and a 5-4 win.
“It was a close game the whole game through,” he said. “Fortunate for us they missed a few in the last end so that shot option came and we took it. I don’t even know what to say, probably the greatest shot of my career!”

“I was just thinking, ‘don’t flip it out’. So just put it at the broom and play some ‘Ludacris’ speed and we’ll be good! It was really fun.”
After a two-win day, the Americans remain the only undefeated team in the event. They completed a comeback win against Japan in the morning, after they stole three in the final end for an 8-6 win when Japan was heavy on their final draw. In the evening, they beat Nigeria, 20-0.
