Saturday update from the World Seniors

After four sessions of round-robin play, almost all the teams in the senior championships have now started their campaigns.

In Group A of the women’s event, there are three joint leaders. Canada having beaten Japan by 12-2, Sweden carving out a 7-4 win over Hong Kong and United States beating New Zealand by 14-5. England and Lithuania have yet to go into action.

In the women’s Group B, joint leaders Australia beat Finland by 7-6 after an extra end, Ireland defeated Czech Republic and Scotland were 10-4 winners over Switzerland. In this group, only Latvia have yet to play.

In the men’s event, Canada and Czech Republic share the lead in Group A, each on two wins.

Three teams—Latvia, Sweden and Switzerland—share the lead in Group B, each having won their opening games, against Germany, New Zealand, and Hong Kong, respectively. England and Korea haven’t started their campaigns yet.

In Group C, Ireland are clear leaders after two games. They followed up an opening 8-7 win over Australia on Friday evening with an 11-4 victory over Estonia. Scotland and United States are yet to play their first games.
