World Championship Pre-Qualifier (Europe) draws to a close in Ljubljana, Slovenia
The first World Championship Pre Qualifier (Europe), which is also the final event of the 2025–2026 season, drew to a close in Ljubljana, Slovenia and saw two men’s and two women’s teams confirm their places in the upcoming World Championship Qualifier events taking place in November 2026.
Women’s Championship
In the women’s championship, 13 teams were split into two groups and saw France and Poland qualify for the play-offs from Group A, while Slovakia and Austria qualified from Group B.
In the first qualification round, France defeated Slovakia, by 10–1, in the A1 v B1 game and secured the first spot in the World Championship Qualifier.
Poland defeated Austria 5–4 in the A2 v B2 game, to progress on to the final qualification game against Slovakia.
In that final qualification game, Poland defeated Slovakia, by 9–3, to claim the last spot in the women’s World Championship Qualifier event in November.
Men’s Championship
In the men’s event, 17 teams competed in two groups and saw Slovenia top Group A undefeated, with an 8-0 record, while Latvia finished top of Group B undefeated with seven wins.
England finished second in Group A and Finland finished second in Group B.
Slovenia defeated Latvia 7–3 in the A1 v B1 game to secure the first place in the World Championship Qualifier.
Finland beat England 9–3 in the A2 v B2 game to progress onto the final qualification game where they would face Latvia.
In the second qualification game, Latvia held of a Finnish fightback to win, by 8–7, and secure their place in the men’s World Championship Qualifier event.
