Applications open for Sports Media Trainee Programme 2025
World Curling has now opened applications for the Sports Media Trainee Programme for the 2025-2026 curling season.
This initiative has been designed to allow young aspiring sports media professionals to gain valuable, hands-on experience at international curling events.
Positions are available in two categories:
- Communications Assistant
- Photographer

The trainee Communications Assistant will create content for social media, interview athletes and write reports on the competition. The trainee Photographer will capture, edit, select and distribute images of the event.
Work from both trainees will be published on World Curling platforms, including the website and social media, and be used by Member Associations and external media outlets.
World Curling is inviting applications from individuals aged 18 to 35 (as of the application deadline) who have a passion for sport and a strong interest in writing and content creation, or photography.
Applicants do not need to be enrolled in formal education to be eligible for this programme.
Successful candidates will be invited to one of the following 2025 World Curling events:
- Pan Continental Curling Championships 2025 (Virginia, Minnesota, United States) 19-26 October 2025
- Le Gruyère AOP European Curling Championships 2025 (Lohja, Finland) 22-29 November 2025
World Curling will cover all travel, accommodation and incidental costs for trainees.

Candidate requirements
- You were born between 14 June 1989 and 13 June 2007
- Your minimum level of education is a high school diploma or equivalent
- You have excellent understanding, speaking and writing skills in English
- You have a strong interest in sport
- You are ready to travel abroad independently and work in an international, multicultural environment
- You are a team player, but you can also work independently
- You are ready to work under time-pressure and are able to prioritise among tasks in a fast-paced environment
- You are open to receiving guidance and feedback from your mentors and others in the team.
The selection committee will apply the following principles during the selection process as much as possible:
- Gender balance
- Geographical balance
How to apply
Photographer
Along with their application, photographers must submit a portfolio of ten sports images and state why they decided to select these photos.
Communications Assistant
Communications Assistants must deliver two tasks:
1. Submit a 400 to 600-word essay on one of the following topics:
- What is your most memorable Olympic moment and why?
- What is your first Olympic memory and how did it shape you?
2. Create an Instagram reel between 7-15 seconds promoting the Pan Continental Curling Championships 2024 in Lacombe, Alberta, Canada from 27 October – 2 November 2024.
In the reel, using the assets provided, include the dates, full name of the championship, location and event logo.
Write a caption including the event hashtag #PCCC. Explain your selection process on the following: text, colours, editing style, footage and music selection. You can find the assets here.
Submit your application by filling in this form by Friday 13 June 2025 at 17:00 (UTC).
