Medal games set at World Seniors

Canada’s women will play Lithuania for World Senior gold on Saturday morning, while the men’s final will see United States face Canada.

In the women’s semi-finals on Friday evening, Canada beat Scotland by 10-3, thanks largely to a score of four in the second end.

In the other semi-final Lithuania beat Switzerland by 5-2, to reach their first final ever, and guarantee Lithuania their first World Curling championship medal.

To reach the men’s final, United States first beat Switzerland by 8-7 in Friday morning’s quarter-finals and then went on to beat Germany, by 10-4 in the semi-finals. Germany qualified for the semi-finals with a 9-4 win over Scotland.

In the other half of the quarter-final draw, Canada beat Norway by 7-2 while Sweden won over Czechia by 8-4.

In their semi-final against Sweden, Canada had a single steal in the seventh end to take a 6-4 lead.

Sweden then scored two in the eighth to tie the game at 6-6 and force an extra end. In that extra end, Canada scored three more points, to win by 9-6.

The women’s bronze game will see Scotland and Switzerland play each other, while on the men’s side, Germany will take on Sweden.
