Sports Communication: Eye on the Hog suspension in European Championships A-Division

Due to multiple technical faults experienced with the battery packs used in the electronic handles, the Eye on the Hog system will be suspended for hog-line judging in the Le Gruyère AOP European Curling Championships 2021 A-Division.

The Chief Ice Technician and the Technical Delegate have determined that the handles currently in use will remain in place on the stones, but all batteries within the electronic handles will be disconnected and manual hog-line judging will be in effect from draw four — Men’s round-robin session two at 09:00 on Sunday 21 November.

Per the World Curling Federation Rules of Curling and Rules of Competition, a stone must be clearly released from the hand before it reaches the hog line at the delivery end. If the player fails to do so, the stone is immediately removed from play by the delivering team. The officials will be randomly observing the stone delivery.
