World Curling Federation appoints new Head of Media
The World Curling Federation is pleased to announce the appointment of Christopher Hamilton as its new Head of Media.
Hamilton — who has been with the Federation since 2014 and focussed on developing its digital media offering — had been carrying out the role of Acting Head of Media since April 2020, following the departure of the previous Head of Media Cameron MacAllister to Glasgow Warriors Rugby.
With his promotion, Hamilton will be charged with evolving the Federation’s communication strategy to share the growth of curling and the Federation’s development work in the sport to an international audience.
President of the World Curling Federation, Kate Caithness said: “We are delighted that Christopher has accepted the Head of Media role with the Federation. Christopher has been a valued and important member of our organisation since joining us over six years ago.
“Having taken the role on an interim basis in April, he has shown he is more than capable of leading our media team into the future and I look forward to continuing my work with him to showcase our sport to the world.”
Hamilton said: “I am honoured to be given the opportunity to lead the Federation’s media team going forward. We are in a period of difficulty for international sport, but these challenges allow us an unprecedented opportunity to form stronger bonds with the curling family and lift the profile of our sport in the lead up to Beijing 2022.
“I’d also like to take this opportunity to thank our previous Head of Media, Cameron MacAllister, for all of his hard work and dedication in growing the sport in his time with the Federation. I wish him every success in his new role.”
