The World Curling Federation has made the difficult decision to cancel this year’s Sports Media Trainee Programme in light of the ongoing pandemic and the uncertainty surrounding COVID-19.
With the challenges that come with global travel and ensuring students’ safety, the World Curling Federation’s Media Team believes it’s best to pause applications for one season and re-launch the programme in the 2021–2022 season.
Each season since 2012, the World Curling Federation Media Team has welcomed trainee journalists and photographers to work at World Curling events.
“We’re saddened that we won’t have the privilege of bringing another group of skilled trainees to our events this season. However, we are looking forward to accepting applications for the 2021–2022 season at a later date,” said Christopher Hamilton, Acting Head of Media.
Graduates of the Sports Media Trainee Programme have gone on to develop various careers in sports journalism and work in the top levels of sport — including work at the Olympic Games and for International Federations and National Sporting Bodies.
