World Mixed Doubles Qualification Event format

The World Mixed Doubles Qualification Event is for any Member Associations not already qualified for the World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship, in a given season.

Open entry

The format of the event changes depending on how many Member Associations enter.

If there are less than 16 competing Member Associations, there will be a single round robin, where every team will play each other once. The top four Member Associations at the end of the round robin will progress to the world championship.

New double knock-out system

If there are 16 or more Member Associations, they will be split into four groups and in each group the Member Associations will play each other once. At the end of the group stage, the top two Member Associations in each group will progress to the play-offs. The eight Member Associations that progress to the play-offs then play in a double knock-out system that will be used to determine the four Member Associations that will progress to the world championship.

How the double knock-out system progresses can be found here.
