WWCC 2012 Day 8 - Player Reaction

Switzerland

After defeating Korea, Switzerland Skip, Mirjam Ott said:

"That was a really crazy gamed – up and down. We were lucky that we won. We just knew we had to believe in our teams and fight and fight. We know that errors can happen in that kind of game.

"I wasn’t nervous at the beginning, I just didn’t perform, but my team kept fighting and gave me great support.

"It’ll be a good game against Sweden. We’ll have to play good curling, they’re a really strong team. We’ve lost twice against them although it was really close, but right now we’re just lucky to be in the final.

"I won’t be thinking too much about gold, I’ll just be thinking about curling.

"It’s just great to be playing my first final in the worlds in Canada, it’s just awesome."

Korea

After losing to Switzerland, Korea Skip, Ji-Sun Kim, said:

"I will do my best to win bronze. It is very disappointing not to be playing for gold. But it is only my second experience at this level and I’m proud to be at this level."

"We played OK, but I made a mistake in the ninth end with my take-out. I don’t know yet how we’ll play against Canada."

Canada

After losing to Korea, Canadian Skip, Heather Nedohin, said:

"I thought the Koreans were extremely defensive. The only entertaining end was the last one and she did make a pistol to win - it was a great shot. I have the utmost respect for any player who can make that behind a Canadian crowd.

"As a Canadian, as Team Nedohin, as Team Alberta, as Team Canada, we came here to win. We believed. We had the whole nation behind us and we went out to win that one. There was fire in our eyes right from the beginning, and we played hard.

"There’s no way we’re losing that bronze medal game."

Korea

After defeating Canada, Korea Skip, Ji-Sung Park, said:

"I feel very good, I’m very happy, it was a lot of fun. I was nervous with the last stone in the tenth end, but I thought I could do it, and I did.

"I thought we could win that’s why I wasn’t too scared during the game.
Our strategy was very simple. I thought the way to beat Canada was to keep it close and we would be more comfortable in our shots."
