Flims, Switzerland – 9 March 2010: In beating Sweden 6-4, Canada broke away to sit alone and undefeated at the top of the junior women’s standings at the World Junior Curling Championships on Tuesday.
Switzerland got off to a strong start in their game against China. Manuela Siegrist’s team was 5-0 up by the end of the third end. China’s Sijia Liu only managed to win single points after that and eventually conceded with the score at 8-4 in the ninth end.
Scotland, with Anna Sloan playing fourth stones and Lauren Gray still skipping but playing third, managed to break their losing streak and beat France 8-3.
The United States proved to be in strong form against Germany. Alexandra Carlson’s side secured a steal of two in the eighth end and a steal of four in the ninth to win the game 11-3.
Russia are now on three wins and three losses after beating the Czech Republic 9-3.
