Sweden close to qualifying for Mixed curling quarter-finals

Sweden’s chances of qualifying directly to the World Mixed Curling Championship 2015 quarter-finals on Friday (18 September) are still very much alive, after winning their sixth game of the event tonight.

The top teams in the four groups after the round robin secure a quarter-final place each, while the teams in second and third enter into a qualification round.

Sweden beat Denmark 6-4, despite having single points stolen from them in the last two ends. They lead Group A, with Denmark and Italy in second place having both won four games and lost two.

Also in Group A, Italy had a 6-4 win over Romania and France beat Lithuania 6-4. Having scored two points in the first end and then stealing single points in the next four ends, Ireland defeated Belgium 6-2.

Slovenia beat Poland 6-3 and Czech Republic won their second game 4-2 against New Zealand. Both teams are in Group C.
