World Curling Federation President, Kate Caithness, was honoured to be included in Around the Rings 'Golden 25' which recognises thought-leaders and personalities worldwide projected to have the greatest impact on the Olympic Movement in 2013.

Around the Rings is a website covering the business and politics of the Olympic Movement, as well as a wide array of issues in international sports.

Nominees came from all areas of the Olympic Movement: sport, the IOC, marketing, federations, organising committees and more.

Please find below an extract from the article published on the Around the Rings website:

Around the Rings:

Kate Caithness stands alone as the first and only female president of a winter Olympic sport.

After four years as a VP, she took over the World Curling Federation from Les Harrison in April 2010, two months after the Vancouver tournament drew rave reviews from ticketholders and TV viewers alike.

Now the Scottish mother of two must ensure her sport makes the most of the Ice Cube in Sochi, curling’s first real showcase venue at a Winter Olympics.

Caithness, 67, entered the sport in the 1980s and is a longtime advocate of wheelchair curling.

As a member of the IPC’s Sports Council Management Committee from 2005 to 2009 and Paralympic Games Committee from 2006 to 2009, she played a key role in curling’s Paralympic debut at Turin 2006.
