WCF Athlete Commission

The WCF Athlete Commission was established in March 2013.

The mission of the WCF Athlete Commission is to communicate the interests of high performance curlers in cooperative support of the WCF achieving its mission.

The WCF Athlete Commission serves as an independent and a consultative body, and acts as the collective voice of our Athletes.

The WCF Athlete Commission acts as the link between high performance athletes, the WCF Board, the WCF Commission on Rules and Competition as well as the IOC Athletes Commission.

In order to be a member of the Athlete Commission the definition of an Athlete according to IOC requirements must be met: Any curler who, within the preceding 8 years, has represented a WCF Member Association at one of the following WCF sanctioned events:

  • Olympic Winter Games
  • Paralympic Winter Games
  • World Curling Championships (Men, Women, Wheelchair)
  • World Mixed Doubles Championships

In a short time, the WCF Athlete Commission has become an important stakeholder within the curling world. The Commission has actively engaged athletes and attended Championship events in order to collect information and views to provide recommendations and solutions to the best interest of curlers worldwide.

The Athlete Commission strives to have diversity among its members and hence comprise both genders, wheelchair representative and representation from all WCF Zones.

The current members of the Commission are “Skip” Ann Swisshelm (USA), David Murdoch (SCO), Kelly Scott (CAN), Kim Forge (AUS), Kosuke Morozumi (JPN), Nolan Thiessen (CAN), Patrick McDonald (USA), while Cathrine Lindahl (Olympic Champion 2006 and 2010) is the WCF Board liaison and "Vice Skip".
