Ten men’s and ten women’s teams: one from the host National Olympic Committee (NOC) and seven teams from the NOCs that have gained the most qualification points from the two previous Men’s and Women’s World Curling Championships and two teams from the Olympic Qualification Event (OQE) which is open to teams which played in any of the four previous Men’s or Women’s World Curling Championships and did not gain sufficient qualification points to directly qualify for the Olympic Winter Games.

The Olympic Men and Women's Curling Competitions will be held with 10 teams while the Mixed Doubles competition will be held with 8 teams.

Korea, as host (1), receives an automatic entry. Seven (7) places will be offered to the National Olympic Committees of the Member Associations of the World Curling Federation, who have gained the most qualifying points from the World Women’s Curling Championships (WWCC), World Men's Curling Championships (WMCC) and the World Mixed Doubles Curling Championships held in 2016 and 2017.

In the Men and Women’s competition the top two teams from the 2017 Olympic Qualification Event (OQE) will fill the remaining two (2) places. NOCs can enter the OQE if they have not gained enough qualification points to directly qualify, or have participated in the 2014 or 2015 WWCCs/WMCCs, or placed 3rd in the Pacific-Asia Curling Championships during the current Olympic cycle.

Points are awarded according to final ranking of the 12 participating teams in the championships as follows: 14 – 12 – 10 – 9 – 8 – 7 – 6 – 5 – 4 – 3 – 2 – 1.

Teams will be ranked at the WWCCs and WMCCs, WMDCCs and Olympic Qualification Points will be awarded, according to the WCF Rules of Competition C9 – Team Ranking Procedure.

The final approval of the qualified teams rests with the International Olympic Committee.
