China men and women win Pan Continental B-Divisions

In the final action of the B-Division, China women, skipped by Han Yu beat Jamaica by 11-3 to claim gold medals and gain promotion to next season’s A Division.  China men, skipped by Ma Xiuyue, also gained promotion, with an 8-4 win over Philippines in the men’s final. Hong Kong took men’s bronze with a 10-7 win over Mexico.

Women’s medallists:

Gold (China): Han Yu (skip), Wang Meini (third), Tian Linyuan (second), Yu Jiaxin (lead), supported by alternate Wang Rui and coach Xu Xiaoming.

Silver (Jamaica): Cristiene Hall (skip), Madeleine Spurgeon (third), Stephanie Chen (second) and Margot Shepherd-Spurgeon (lead).

Bronze (Brazil): Anne Shibuya (skip), Luciaina Barrella (third), Sarah Lippi (second), Isabelle Campos (lead), supported by alternate Marcelia Melo and coach Frank Odriscoll.

Men’s medallists:

Gold (China): Ma Xiuyue (skip), Zou Qiang (third), Wang Zhiyu (second), Tian Jiafeng (lead), supported by alternate Li Zhichao and coach Liu Rui.

Silver (Philippines): Marc Pfister (skip), Christian Haller (third), Enrico Pfister (second), Alan Frei (lead), supported by alternate Benjo Delarmente and coach Miguel Gutierrez.

Bronze (Hong Kong): Chang Jason (skip), Yan Martin (third), Cheng Ching Nam (second), Chung Cheuk Hei (lead), supported by alternate Ma Chi Lap and coach Nathan Small
